In late August 2026 heavy rain flooded large parts of Nepal, taking houses, roads and power lines, and in some places taking people. Global Sikhs sent teams to search for people who were missing and to reach the districts the floods had cut off.
Search and rescue
Searching at Trishuli
Global Sikhs set up a search and rescue team near the Trishuli Hydropower Plant, one of the places the floods hit hardest. For several days the team looked for people who were missing. Where someone had not survived, the team recovered the body so the family could take them home.
Langar
Hot meals in the relief camps
Volunteers cooked hot meals every day and took them to the relief camps, and to families staying with relatives because their own homes had gone. In langar everyone sits together, and everyone gets the same plate.
Supplies to Nuwakot
Nuwakot stayed cut off after the floods. One team drove in, started langar in Bidur, the district headquarters, and handed out the supplies the district had not been able to receive.

The teams sat down with local people first, to work out which families needed help most. Then they handed the supplies to those families directly.
Bedding and light
Something to sleep on, and light at night
The relief camps did not have enough bedding, so Global Sikhs bought new bedding and carried it in. Where the floods had cut the power, families received solar lights.
